TX License #B28617101 Bonded & Insured 10AM–12AM Daily

For Arlington rental property, rekeying between tenants is the standard, and it should be non-negotiable. Keys don't all come back, and the ones that do may have been copied. Rekeying the same hardware repeatedly is far cheaper than replacing it every turnover, and we can key a unit alike so tenants carry one key.

Arlington's stadium district, UTA rental stock and dense neighborhoods generate a steady mix of urgent and scheduled work. We cover all of it under Texas DPS license #B28617101, across Tarrant County, from 10AM to midnight — seven days a week, holidays included.

Residential Lock Rekey in Arlington

What the job covers

Restricted key options

Where you want keys that can't be copied at a hardware store, we can quote a restricted keyway system instead.

Hardware condition check

While a lock is apart, we can see whether it's wearing out. You'll hear about it, without a sales pitch attached.

All exterior doors rekeyed

Front, back, garage entry and side doors. Every old key stops working the moment we're finished.

Padlocks and secondary locks

Compatible padlocks, gate locks and shed locks brought onto the same key where possible.

Fresh keys cut on site

As many working copies as you need, cut and tested before we leave.

How it works

From your call to a new key

  1. 1

    Count the doors

Tell us how many locks and roughly what brand. That's most of the quote right there.

  2. 2

    Cylinders come out

The tech removes each cylinder and re-pins it to a new key combination on site. Your hardware stays on the door.

  3. 3

    Everything keyed alike

Compatible locks are set to one key. If some hardware can't join — different brand or keyway — we tell you before we start rather than after.

  4. 4

    New keys, old keys dead

You get fresh keys, we confirm each door with the door closed, and every previously issued key is now useless.

Common calls

Why Arlington calls us for this

Multiple units at once

We can run several Arlington units in one visit, which brings the per-unit cost down.

Between tenants

Standard turnover practice, and cheaper every time than replacing the hardware.

You just moved in

The most common reason anyone rekeys. You have no way of knowing how many keys are out there, and now it doesn't matter.

Relationship or roommate change

Someone who had a key no longer should. No explanation needed, and we don't ask for one.

Contractor or service access

You handed out a key during a renovation and it never came back.

What rekeying is, and when it beats new locks

Rekeying changes the pin stacks inside your existing cylinder so it accepts a new key and rejects every old one. The lock stays on the door. Nothing is replaced, nothing is discarded, and the security of the lock is exactly what it was before — which is why rekeying only makes sense when your current hardware is worth keeping.

For most Arlington homes it is. If your locks are undamaged and reasonably graded, a rekey achieves the same outcome as new hardware at a much lower cost. Replace instead when the locks are worn out, low grade, damaged, mismatched brands you can't key alike, or when you want something the hardware can't do — like keypad entry or high-security drill resistance.

  • Locks must share a brand and keyway to be keyed alike — we check this before quoting
  • Rekeying does not improve a lock's physical strength; it changes who can open it
  • A house can be rekeyed as many times as you like over its life without wearing out the hardware
  • Master keying is available if you want one key for everything and separate keys for specific doors

FAQ

Home Rekey questions in Arlington

Can you set up a master key system for my home?
Yes. A master key system lets one key open everything while other keys open only specific doors — useful for larger Arlington properties, guest quarters, home offices, or households with staff. We plan the hierarchy with you before cutting anything.
Will my old keys still work afterward?
No, and that's the entire point. Once we re-pin the cylinder, every key cut to the old combination stops working immediately — including any copies you don't know about.
Can smart locks be rekeyed?
The mechanical key override on most smart deadbolts can be rekeyed like any other cylinder. The digital codes are separate — we can walk you through clearing old user codes at the same time so both halves are actually reset.
How long does a rekey take?
Most Arlington homes take 30 to 60 minutes for the whole house. We rekey on site with a pinning kit, so nothing is removed from your property and nothing has to be ordered.
Can all my doors use the same key?
Usually yes. As long as the locks share a compatible brand and keyway, we can key your Arlington home alike so one key opens front, back and garage. We check compatibility before quoting so there are no surprises.
Can you rekey locks from different brands to one key?
Only if they share a compatible keyway. Mixed-brand doors sometimes can't be keyed alike, and in that case we'll tell you before starting and give you the option of swapping one cylinder so everything matches.
